[Gencon] Reliving the Good Old Days - Wednesday 8/13/08 - 4pm to 8pm
Reliving The Good Old Days
System: D&D 3.5
Genre: High Level Fantasy
Game Time: Sunday 8/17 7pm-11pm
Meeting Location: Embassy Suites Lobby
Quote:
Once upon a time, you were the great adventurers in the land. You did heroic deeds and fought great and dangerous enemies. But that was some time ago. You took your titles and land and retired from the adventuring life. You got married, had kids, and let the cohorts and followers deal with the dangerous stuff.
But, there have been problems in one of your provinces. Dark omens and the like. You hired a low-level band of adventurers to go deal with it. They didn't return. You hired a medium-level band of adventurers to go deal with it. THEY didn't return. You sent your cohort and his group to go deal with it. HE didn't return!
It might be time to dust off the old armor and call up your old band to hit the road once again. Your horse is looking at you like you're nuts for even considering saddling him.

This was a game I ran at a tiny con in New Hampshire back in '04. Players supplied their own 15th level characters (whom were at least middle-aged) and chose to make it an all dwarf party. That session was fairly roleplay heavy, with players swapping old adventure stories around the poker table and making comments about their youngest teething on the Mace of Saint Cuthbert.

Does that include Sunday night, by any chance? Though it might be tough getting players then since many are leaving Sunday. On the other hand, any that are there are more likely to be free, I imagine.

If you run this Sunday night 6 or later, Fraisala and I will come.
Btw, you thought of cross-posting this on ENWorld? Might be able to find some takers there who aren't signed up on CM yet.

I was going to say "Add me", but you already did...
Now I got less than three months to create a 15th level character... is it possible?
Btw, what races are allowed?

Ooh yeah; zombie lovin'!
"Honey, we need to talk; how come we never go out anymore?"
"brains."
"You're not sensitive to my needs!"
"brains."
Methinks this cycle rarely ends well.

Woot. Updated.
And please feel free to discuss character concepts in the thread.
Nerfwright has expressed interest in the Sublime Chord prestige class.

It's a bard prestige class that focuses on improving their arcane abilities through music.

Welcome, NerfWright and Seonaid!
Does the Sublime Chord function more like a wizard/controller?
I'm pretty open to a lot of things, so I can work around what others want and find the best fit for the role I need to be. Might be interested in something like a Druid or Cleric type thing. Maybe a mystic theurge would be good at this level. Also willing to be a rogue/barbarian type thing if we need some martial power.

Hmmm better to call it a sorceror/controller cross with some interesting bardic-style versatility to compensate for the prestige class delimited spellcasting.

Just wanted to jump in here and note that this is the time where the "going away" dinner will probably happen just like last year. I believe it started after the picnic and Sunday 2-6pm games ended. 7ish.

I will stay in this game if it gets moved back an hour or two for the dinner. If everyone wants to keep it at 7pm, then I'll stay in then as well.

You mean starting at 9pm and running til 1am? That's a little late for me.
The way I look at it, we're getting out around 11pm, which is prime board/card game time in the Embassy Suites, even on sunday night.

It's a little late for me, too, but I just wanted to give ya the option. Right now, it looks like I'll be gameless for Sunday afternoon, so I can see/say goodbye to people then.
And, like, the who the fuck cares about anyone not in this game?

The dinner is all well and good and I did enjoy it last time, but it's not necessary for me. I enjoyed the hanging out and playing games afterwards much more.
Oh, and enworld thread for this game is now up.

I think I'll play a relatively straight Druid for this game, though I'm not sure of all the options I want yet.
What rules/errata will we be using for Wild Shape and Polymorph?
The other idea I'm thinking of would be a cold-themed sorcerer with a penguin familiar, something I've been meaning to do for awhile.
