Origins: In December 2007, reveal posted on an internet message board:
They had a special showing of The Golden Compass here last night and we went to it. My wife has read the book but I have not. Our review: It was boring. It had great action scenes and fantastic special effects but, overall, it was just boring. There were way too many conveniences allowing the story to go forward.
Unfortunately for the man's credibility, eyewitnesses confirm that reveal was home all night; in addition, none of the movie theaters in the city were playing 'special showings' of the film on the night in question.
