| Red Dwarf the film? |
|
Jan 05, 2009 - 6:46 PM - by Truth Seeker IV
|
FS:No chance I say, but it would appear that at one time there was talk of a Red Dwarf film, probably when Red Dwarf was a well watched show and wasn't relying on fans watching the many repeats while the stars went off to other projects.
Craig Charles, one of the stars of the series, is promoting a new one off special of Red Dwarf that they're all off filming just now, and so he's obviously going to punt the idea of a film of the much loved series.

FilmStalker:It's hard to believe that there could be room for a fourth Scream film, and some of the stars seem to think that too, but Bob Weinstein is holding out hope for it, so much so that there's a script and stars are being courted.
According to Jamie Kennedy and the scriptwriter Michael T. Kennedy, the film is happening and the script is written, but Weinstein wants the entire crew back for the fourth film, alive or dead.

| Exclusive! David Goyer reveals the secrets of The Unborn! |
|
Jan 05, 2009 - 6:37 PM - by Truth Seeker IV
|
A creepy kid, a lissome brunette, Nazis, a dog with an upside down head and Jews! The Unborn's got 'em all! This latest movie from prolific filmmaker David Goyer--he provided the story for The Dark Knight and wrote and directed Blade: Trinity, among other movies--goes straight for the horror jugular with a story of unborn twins, hauntings, family curses and a Jewish exorcism rite.
Starring Odette Yustman, Meagan Good, Cam Gigandet and Gary Oldman, The Unborn is the tale of one woman's survival as she fights a family curse and struggles to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born. The Unborn opens Jan. 9.
Goyer sat down exclusively with SCI FI Wire last month to talk about the movie. Following is an edited version of that interview.

“Bill [Lawrence, creator of SCRUBS] would have first claims to the dead stuffed dog, but Christa Miller [Lawrence’s wife] would never let him put that in their house,” Braff continues. “The way I see it, I got second dibs on Rowdy and so Rowdy’s going with me.”

NFDHD:So SAG leaders continue conducting their education campaign about the Strike Authorization Vote despite the ballot delay and upcoming January 12th-13th National Board meeting which could deep-six the idea. The following is the first in what is described to me as a series of responses to members’ questions at recent Town Hall meetings. Its major point is SAG executive Director Doug Allen saying a strike "will not shut down the Industry". Then what's the point of a strike?

| Are You Buying Fewer Games in this Bad Economy? |
|
Jan 05, 2009 - 5:54 PM - by Truth Seeker IV

|
LivingDice.com:Gaming is an expensive hobby. Rule books, miniatures, maps and convention travel all conspire to empty a gamer’s wallet. While planning my Gen Con trip budget today, I wondered how much the current dire economic situation is impacting gamers. To satisfy my curiosity, I am running the very first Livingdice.com poll. The poll will run for one week, so encourage every gamer you know to contribute. Prevailing wisdom is that games tend to be “recession resistant” like movies. People will still spend on “fun” activites regardless of how bad the economy becomes. Is this the case for you or are you saving that cash for a rainy day.

| Why the Comic-Book Movie Industry Needs a Female Superhero |

RopeOfSilicon:In a time when comic book geeks are actually getting laid and cute girls are parading around the convention halls in next to nothing to emulate their favorite superheroines, isn’t it a little sad that us girls have yet to have a quality superhero moment on celluloid? For the past decade or so we’ve been proud to shell out our ten bucks to the movie house to watch Tobey Maguire and Christian Bale kick ass in spandex, because seriously, it’s Tobey Maguire and Christian Bale in Spandex, but we deserve more than that.

The Movie Blog:It seems the Donald Blake from the Thor world has been added to the upcoming Thor movie. As some of you may already know, the original script for Thor had the entire story and movie taking place in Valhalla and not crossing into the “real world”. I thought this was a terrible idea right from the start.
But according to our friends over at IESB.Net some significant script changes have been made and the Donald Blake character has been added which obviously suggests that the Thunder God will, at least in part, be in our world. If you’re not familiar with who Donald Blake is:

Here’s how director Albert Pyun first described the project to us: “It’s got a sexy sorceress, hordes of demonic vampires, a giant serpent, sea pirates, nasty sword (and axe, spear, leg of cow) fights and gore and nudity galore. Everything that a rousing adventure needs to have.”

| One Hacker's Audacious Plan to Rule the Black Market in Stolen Credit Cards |
|
Jan 05, 2009 - 4:37 PM - by Truth Seeker IV
|
WIRED Magazine/People:The heat in Max Butler's safe house was nearly unbearable. It was the equipment's fault. Butler had crammed several servers and laptops into the studio apartment high above San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, and the mass of processors and displays produced a swelter that pulsed through the room. Butler brought in some fans, but they didn't provide much relief. The electric bill was so high that the apartment manager suspected Butler of operating a hydroponic dope farm.
But if Butler was going to control the online underworld, he was going to have to take the heat. For nearly two decades, he had honed his skills as a hacker. He had swiped free calls from local telephone companies and sneaked onto the machines of the US Air Force. Now, in August 2006, he was about to pull off his most audacious gambit yet, taking over the online black markets where cybercriminals bought and sold everything from stolen identities to counterfeiting equipment. Together, these sites accounted for millions of dollars in commerce every year, and Butler had a plan to take control of it all.
