For everyone reading and commenting though, I do want to stop the misinformation right now - this doesn't look at all like our playtest process or material.

The News Page at EN World has the latest info on the supposed leaks at 4chan and elsewhere.

Info Bits:
"You get 4 rests per day; 2 short 10-minute ones, a 1-hour one, and an 8-hour one. 10-minutes give you back your level in HP, the 1-hour lets you get back 1/2 your hp OR re-prep some spells (one or the other, caster-bitches!), while an 8-hour gives you back both 1/2 HP and all your spells. There were no healing surges in sight."

"Oh, while I'm thinking about it... HP is set by your Con SCORE, but it was also heavily implied every class had an actual hit die for future levels. Criticals were 4e/3e hybrids; roll a 20, do max damage AND roll to confirm. On a success, extra damage equal to your class' HD; rogue 1d6, fighter 1d10, etc."

That resting mechanic sounds horrible. It makes adventurering more like an office job! Two 10 minute tea/fag breaks and an hour for lunch. Morrus are you sure someone isn't breaking the "Real Life" NDA rather than the D&D Next one?

It was posted as unconfirmed. It's obviously a troll. I refuse to believe even WotC would come up with something that inane.

5e looks interesting, I'll probably be buying it, though I'd prefer it if it annoyed fans of older editions (all older editions, including 4e) more.

Perhaps this 'keep everyone happy'/'all editions in one' approach is designed specifically to annoy people like me, and only people like me. If so, then I applaud Mike n' Monte for their cunning.

All the years I've worked in offices, I never had an office day like that. It was always "get in, work until starving, 10-minute snack, work until whipping stops, go home".

PC: I generally get to the dungeon at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way the monsters can't see me, and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.

PC: Yeah, I just stare at my character sheet; but it looks like I'm playing. I do that for probably another hour after the first combat, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, adventuring.

What would be amusing is if the post-spellplague 4E Forgotten Realms is retroactively made into one of Elminster's hallucinations, or a bizarro world disconnected from the other pre-4E Realms.
