Well, that's the short version...
The thing I want 5e to accomplish is "never more than two-rolls tops" to complete any action. Attack, then Damage. Grab, then Hold. Stealth vs. Perception. Diplomacy vs. Insight. Damage, then Saving Throw. I don't think any single player action should require more than this. I never want to return to the world of Grapple Checks, Trip Monkeys, or the summoner's pet horde of earth elementals.
A few other areas of 4e math works (or they got it to work via trial and error): how to handle large encounters. Monster math (post MM3). XP budgets (for those so inclined). I even have grudging respect for 1/2 level + Stat math (though, as stated, I'd love to see some way to use other mathematical advancements as well). I think some of these things, reworked into the frame of a AD&D/3e style class structure, could work wonders."I'm offended by stupidity. Which is why I hate myself so much." - Kzach

I know I'm going to savor the cries of the 4e true believers over the next few months.

I see it as a big deal. With the focusing of DDXP at Winter Expo, it seemed like D&D was trying to be the special snowflake, with its own con. Now, I see this as a smart synergy. Make the biggest con *your* biggest con and make the best of the crowds already there.

It would be cool if they brought Greyhawk out of dormancy in some way for 5e. Maybe as an "Old School" supplement or some-such.
EDIT: Should "what I would like to see in 5e D&D" posts work in this thread, or would it warrant it's own?

The thing I really found interesting was the Chinese video game art studio working on Forgotten Realms art (I sear I saw this somewhere but I can't find the link). That implies a big online component to this.

I'd go one further than that - assuming that they ratchet back to the lowest detail being "class" regardless of race, with the additions of race/subclasses as a first layer, skills/feats as a second layer, etc, then they could actually revive the Known World as the vehicle for the least complex layer, Greyhawk for the race/subclass complexity level, etc.
