I'm still on the trail of goofy/bad, old post-apoc movies, and ran across this bit for one called "She".

I laughed so hard at this bit that I'm going to have to find a copy to download so I can enjoy this comedy.

Dark the stars and dark the moon
Hush the night and the morning loon
Tell the horses and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

Dark the oceans, dark the sky
Hush the whales and the ocean tide
Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

Mortal Engines is absolutely entertaining and I enjoyed it greatly. Lots of typical-Hollywood plot holes, huge leaps of improbability, and overall far too neat/pat, and obviously predictable and typical tropes, but that's Hollywood.

Bonus points for excellent costuming, and great background/set design. A very nice sorta-steampunk futuristic tech without being overly space-ey scifi or uber-tech, which is kind of a turnoff for me and part of the reason why I'm not that huge a Star Wars fan.

I definitely want to get the books.

Also, I bet Bunneh is probably going to really like one of the secondary characters.

I had no plans to see it, mostly due to this:

Lots of typical-Hollywood plot holes, huge leaps of improbability, and overall far too neat/pat, and obviously predictable and typical tropes...
Which I hate in movies... but also this:

    sorta-steampunk
    Which I also really hate.

But let me guess, the assassin?

If by which you mean the female main character, no.

But it's really not terribly or overtly steampunk, honestly. You might like it.

The hell?!? I just realized I must have missed The Favourite showing in theatres; I could have sworn I just saw the preview for that like a week or two ago. And it looked absolutely hilarious.

Dammit. And it's not apparently even in the torrent-verse yet, either. I'm apparently too late the one way, too early the other. Drat!

To be fair, it really wasn't the steampunkishness that turned me off on this movie. That was just the straw tossed on long after the camel died from the weight of stupid Hoolywoodisms.

For example if you ever find yourself recommending a movie and the words "It's really great fun if you just turn your brain off and enjoy it!" I won't like it.

Travelers is back (on Netflix at least, Season 3)! But when I am supposed to watch this, i still have to catch up on the Arrowverse stuff and finish Mass Effect: Andromeda! Plus dozens of Blurays that I bought over-eager and now are waiting to be watched.

I can't really do that either; about the best I can manage is if I'm watching something for a specific purpose, like watching it for costuming, or ideas for props, etc.

Hop a plane. It's still showing in San Antonio, and looks like it will be at least through the 21st.
