All I know is that they are what I refer to as "Tzimisce Style" vampires.

    [EDIT]
I've looked it up and no wonder why the vamps in The Strain look familiar. Guillermo del Toro also made Blade 2.

No, but you like Into the Badlands and The Walking Dead so it's not like you have good taste.

I'm not terribly impressed with the first episode so far, though I'll give it a chance.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Nosferatu, since what little we've seen looks icky. And what little experience I had with V:tM didn't include Tzimisce.

And I only thought Gangrel and maybe Toreador worth playing, anyhow.

Dark the oceans, dark the sky
Hush the whales and the ocean tide
Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

It's the split mouths and jaw/tongue/tentacle* thing that reminds of the alienish shapeshifting Tzimisce**.

    * However it's as I mentioned, just a del Toro thing as he does this as well in Blade 2.

** in OWoD lore the Tzimisce were infected with some demon parasite that turned them from vamps into something 'else'. In fact the "clan" discipline Vicissitude was simply the infection... advancing in it increased it's hold on the host. A few Old Clan Tzimisce remained uninfected and were hunting them to exterminate the infection.

Ewww. Leeches are so inherently nasty.

I'm rolling my eyes at a lot in this series. But I already like the ratcatcher guy. Hope he sticks around. Incidentally, if they ever somehow manage to bring the Emberverse novels to the screen, he'd have been a perfect choice to play Eddie Liu if he was younger, has the whole blue-eyed, Asian-complected thing going on.

Edit: Goddammit. Why'd the CDC chick have to go and pansy out? I had hoped she'd be made of sterner stuff than that. Especially her comment that she'd "rather die of the epidemic than kill people." Total, utter and complete evolutionary fail. Sigh.

A Witcher TV Series by Netflix. That sounds promising.

And we finally have a trailer for Discovery. Maybe you can see this, I can't, because of CBS' Geo Nazis:

I'm trying to stay cautiously optimistic about both The Witcher and Discovery. The biggest bite for me on Discovery is that it's tied to CBS' streaming service. It's going to have to be super cheap for me to want to subscribe for essentially one show.

For me, it's on Netflix, so it's basically perfect.

Oh! I didn't realize that would be the case outside of the US...interesting...

    I
just ran out of Homeland episodes. So I'm looking for something else to watch. That show has gotten grimmer and more repetitive with time. It sort of lost momentum after Damian Lewis left. The 100 has become tediously predictable. The Expanse is on hiatus. Billions, ditto. And I wait for Better Call Saul, which has been generally great.

Watch "24:Legacy" it is the a political show that is the mirror image of Homeland, on so many levels.

Okay, but be warned. By "Mirror Image" I mean that while "Homeland" has subtlety and nuance, "24 Legacy" hits you over the head with a sledge hammer. However, despite the absurdity of the situations it is still a fun ride. Just don't overthink it.
