O yeah, I think that was what they called him. Her. It.

A friend of mine who is a Godzilla fan was giving me sort of an overview of the previous movies, and mentioned a spinning, flying turtle. With laser beams. Or something. But it's not in this one.

Hmmm...we'll see. I like my 'dark' sort of rather REALLY dark.

I did. I didn't know they were pulling a MCU when I went in, but when the lights didn't go up at the credits and roughly a third of the people there stayed in their seats, I smelled a clue and waited.

Also because a bunch of us were unabashedly and merrily singing along to the remake of BOC's "Godzilla", and I wanted to hear the rest of the music. Pleasant surprise when I saw this was another Bear McCreary baby.

To be honest I didn't expect Gamera to be in it. Ganera was a rival studios Kaiju, ran opposite of Godzilla and was nowhere near as popular. Also Gamera is clearly the 'good guy' in his series where Godzilla goes back and forth in the series as to whether he's saving Japan or ravaging it.

I was just hoping a little that maybe finally Gamera and Godzilla could be in a movie together, since the next Godzilla movie is Godzilla vs Kong.

I think it might appeal to you. It's not the darkness where things looked grim and scary but only the chick we kinda forgot about and a bunch of evil henchmen die and we'll all be reunited afterwards.

Yeah I have seen it. I did recommended it here or on Enworld a few weeks/months back.

Like Mustrum says very Stranger Things vibe to it. I enjoyed it and very much looking forward to the next season.
And yes it can get a little tricky following the various storylines.

Godzilla King of the Monsters was pretty fun, but needed less bullshit dialogue and humans and more monsters punching each other. I mean, it was way better than Godzilla (2014) in that there was plenty of Godzilla (King of the Monsters) in it... but still... I didn't give a shit about any of the humans.

I also like how in these movies, thousands / millions of people can die horribly offscreen in monsters-induced disasters, but I'm still supposed to be worried about one random army chick with a piece of shrapnel in her leg at the end.

    And finally

    Did they basically nuke Atlantis?!?!
    Still excited about 4th Edition!

No. Perhaps Mu, or a nod to Seatopia from Godzilla vs. Megalon.

In my unabashed Godzilla ignorance, that's what I had thought, too.

Watching the Preacher at the moment. It's pretty entertaining.

Okay, watched the whole season, it's goooood.

The last episode is the weakest, not sure I like where they went with Klaus (I mean he's still wearing shoes!) and the weak ending clearly sets up next season... but...

The kid (Aidan Gallagher) who plays 5 is fucking great. He's got some serious acting chops.

And the gut punch in the last few minutes of episode 5? Bloody hell mang, bloody hell...

I don't know...no cartoons? No Danger Island? No Sour Grape Bunch dancers? Not my Banana Splits.

I'd never heard of them and assumed they were a fictitious construct.

ETA: found a vid of Adam Savage's "Tested" where they explore the robot suit, and it's amazingly well-made. Bonus personal points for the guy who performed the robot being the same guy in the suit for "Krampus" (which I adored).

Nope. Actual kids' show for a couple of seasons in the late 60's.

Apparently this movie will air this year on the SyFy network.

There's a documentary coming out later this year (hopefully) on the Mad Max movies, which hear is going to be produced/narrated by the guy who played Wez. In looking for totally different Mad Max documentary (and failing to find anything but the vaguest of mentions on IMDB), I ran across this mini-documentary on the Interceptor that was worth watching. It's cool that one of the original two has now come over here after sitting in England for the past couple decades, although I know there's a totally different guy over here who has had a down-to-the-smallest-detail replica of it for a number of years, and I heard he's selling it.
