    Lady of Shallott.

I like Emelie Autumn's riff on the tale.

Dark the stars and dark the moon
Hush the night and the morning loon
Tell the horses and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

Dark the oceans, dark the sky
Hush the whales and the ocean tide
Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

That's why I don't recognize it as a fairy tale.

Arthurian legends not fairytale enough for you?

They aren't fairy tales at all. They're (by design) Arthurian Myths/Legends/Stories, not fey. Particularly the more Christian they hew and you don't hew harder Christian than Tennyson. Okay, maybe Malory...

That's like asking why I don't consider the Robin Hood stories to be fairy tales despite being filled with merry men.

    I'd add a Rogue.

The rogue is a golden blond -- the colour of wheat just before harvest. It is her best feature; she is not quite as pretty as the rest. She dresses in an understated way though one wrist bears her only jewelry: a bracelet woven from gold wire exquisitely formed to look like grain stalks twisted together.

She slips along silently and unnoticed. There is much to be discovered when no one thinks anyone is watching and listening.

She is always quiet and watchful. She bargains hard, and examines every offer carefully. She left her husband behind; he was only interested in ways he could profit form her. The child is safe, from him and any others who would use or abuse him. She watches the warlock's patron is intense wariness muttering how that all such deals end badly.

Gah, what is this guy smoking?! It's like he never read the original entry.

Song/weredragons are always female, and their offspring are always another weredragon. And yes, that means Elminster's daughter is one.

Shifting only once per day? Bitch, please. And he forgot about the tongues, true sight and bond-rending stuff. And what dragon can't cast spells as a dragon?
