Doomtree's "Game Over," off their 2008 group album (titled Doomtree, natch).
This collective, on the Rhymesayers label, reminds me a lot of Def Jux's crew in from about 10 years ago...a lo-fi but polished sound, distinct voices, and a good blend of urban angst with thoughtful lyricism. Doomtree is a bit more approachable, though, as their production isn't being done by El-P.
Anyway, I'll shut up. Here's the track, one of the better ones off the album.
Ok, so I'm listening to some Lee "Scratch" Perry and drinking some Guinness way later than I should be on a Thursday night. I & I. Sue me. Dude's one of my all-time favorite insane mages......and he's touting a decent potion.
Say Hey* Spearhead
Cumbia Poder* Celso Piña y El Gran Silencio
Ok, these avatars have even inspired me to come out of my cumbia closet. How a pudgy old dude with a moustache and an accordian from the deserts of northern Mexico got so good at it is beyond me. Inspiration. And I also have to say, despite the above video, cumbia chicas are the hottest.
Loki put me in the mood for this.
Aggresive RB. I like it.
In roughly the same vein.....
El Timbalero* El Gran Silencio (live)
Genio del Dub * Control Machete Remix by UB&O
Edit: Not that it really matters much to anyone but me, buuuuut.....the video version of "Genio del Dub" is slightly different from the version I entitled it with. I'm listening to the UB&O remix, but I'm pretty sure that's not the video mix. Close enough really.

I'm groovin' to some Doors, Zeppelin, Lou Reed and Hendrix this afternoon.
"Walk on the Wild Side" will always have special meaning for me. A group of friends did an a cappella version, with modified lyrics, at the wedding reception for my first marriage. It was tongue in cheek of course, comparing marriage to "the wild side", and I don't remember all of the variations now, but they were prophetic in many now forgotten ways.
Zeppelin videos mostly suck on YouTube.
Loved the movie & bought the MP3.
Danny Elfman "The Little Things"
Sean and I will frequently "trade songs", meaning we're both in the same rooms with our computers, and he will play a song, then I'll free associate and play a song, and so on and so on. Tonight I wound up chaining onto this, which just makes me weep. And it made me want to watch Immortal Beloved, so I looked on Netflix, and it's available to watch instantly through the XBox 360. I am a happy Sarah.
A mature person is one who does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and in all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably with the circumstances of life, knowing that in this world no one is all knowing and therefore all of us need both love and charity.

I'm listening to this guy. He's a hoot! (Language NWS)
