    reveal's Daily Trivia 4.9.19

    1) Why do apples turn brown when sliced? Answered

Enzymatic browning. When the inside of an apple is exposed to oxygen, an enzyme in the apple called polyphenol oxidase produces chemicals called o-quinones, which in turn produce brown melanin.

    2) What famous children's book author once published a story in Cosmopolitan under the pen name Pegasus?

    1 - They're rusting!

2 - Roald Dahl. The story is called Gremlins, it's about an RAF pilot who befriends the little menaces that are tearing apart his plane...

    2) Roald Dahl. The piece appeared in Cosmopolitan in 1942 and was a shortened version of The Gremlins, Dahl’s first story for children. The 1984 films Gremlins is thought to be loosely based on Dahl’s story.
