Also, guarding a fair woman polymorphed into a cow.

I find it's just a teensy bit odd that this question comes up right after the latest episode of American Gods features Argus. Media's up to her tricks again, I see.

Dark the stars and dark the moon
Hush the night and the morning loon
Tell the horses and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

Dark the oceans, dark the sky
Hush the whales and the ocean tide
Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I was laughing my ass off at all of poor Mad Sweeney's mishaps of ill-luck. Just when you thought it couldn't POSSIBLY get worse, the band bus turns out to be a Christian rock band.

    Correct but not 100%!

    1) Cartoonist Max Fleischer was inspired by Esther Jones (aka “Baby Esther”), a black jazz singer who regularly performed in New York City’s Harlem clubs in the Roaring Twenties.

I know Helen Kane's name isn't in Workman's official answer but the story behind involves Helen Kane and is weird and very interesting: https://fyeahhistory.com/2018/08/13/...ty-boops-soul/

    Correct!

    3) Belmopan. The city was constructed in the aftermath of Hurricane Hattie in 1961, which caused major destruction in Belize City, the former capital. Belmopan was built inland to keep it safe from tropical storms.

Yeah, I've never held with most of that nonsense. The character was clearly created from Helen Kane, Baby Esther was just a convenient defense for for Max and Paramount. In fact in that article you linked...

"In fact, neither woman would win this fight. You see Baby Esther was nowhere to be found, never appearing in court. By the the time the trial wrapped up, she was presumed dead.

Betty Boop’s creators, Flieschman and Paramount left the court on a high, effectively getting out of two lawsuits. One from the woman they knowingly stole from and one from the woman they unknowingly stole from."

'Unknowingly stole from'. In other words, even this article understands Max based the character on Helen Kane, this is just another woke attempt to blackwash a piece of history.

Don't get me wrong, it's terrible that Helen stole from Esther and Max stole from Helen, but let's not make this something it ain't.
