It's been good before, but it's been on a downwards trajectory since episode 1.

Dany burning scorpions and not caring about if debris killed people below? Sure. Drogon razing the Red Keep even though lots of people hide in there? I can buy that.

Dany suddenly going on strafing runs over the city after the lannister army had surrendered? WTF.
    Yep.

I also had a problem with how Cersei died. They just shrugged and ditched the prophecy completely. The least they could have done would have been to have him tenderly holding her neck and kissing her when they died. That way should could have died with the younger brother's hands wrapped around her neck like prophecy said. But no, they couldn't even do that much.

My suspicion is that the show's writers are graduates of the Michael O'Donoghue "How to Write Good," school of screenwriting. Lacking large lorries in medieval fantasy land, one must have them all smashed by giant rocks.

    Lesson 2: The Ending:

All too often, the budding author finds that his tale has run its course and yet he sees no way to satisfactorily end it, or, in literary parlance, "wrap it up." Observe how easily I resolve this problem:Suddenly, everyone was run over by a truck. -the end-
If the story happens to be set in England, use the same ending, slightly modified:
Suddenly, everyone was run over by a lorry. -the end-
    If set in France:
Soudainement, tout le monde etait écrasé par un camion. -finis-
You'll be surprised at how many different settings and situations this ending applies to. For instance, if you were writing a story about ants, it would end "Suddenly, everyone was run over by a centipede." In fact, this is the only ending you ever need use.*
*Warning - if you are writing a story about trucks, do not have the trucks run over by a truck. Have the trucks run over by a mammoth truck.
"When the subway jerks, it's the fixed stars that throw you down."

For Para... this might hurt, but it sounds accurate to me (from the second hand I'm getting off of socmed)...

    Gah. Wth?

I can maybe get the foot soldiers from the Northern army suddenly falling prey to war-frenzy and losing their shit, attacking men who had surrendered. And maybe Dany finally snapping a bit from all the recent shit, and whacking the Red Keep. But as mentioned above, repeated strafing runs to kill civilians and destroy pretty much the whole of King's Landing? Come on.

CleganeBowl was decent. Sandor was Sandor until the very end.

I guess technically the show never mentioned the valonqar part of Maggy's prophecy, so all us book-readers were waiting for it and thus disappointed by that particular ending.

    Sigh.

Apologies if it's already been posted, but I bailed on this thread when I bailed on the show 4 years ago.

    Sigh.
They almost fulfilled it with a twist. His hands were around her neck until a few seconds before they died, then he removed them to embrace her. Had he kept his hands there and just kissed her, she would have died with her little brother's hands around her neck. It was like they deliberately avoided fulfilling the prophecy.

Yeah, I admit I was sitting there going, "...oh? Ohhh? Is he...?? Nope. Damn. Well, fuck."

Though I figure it would have taken some astronomical circumstances for Jaime to have stepped into the position of choking the life from Cersei, with his hands wrapped around her neck. I figured if the valonqar thing was gonna happen, it was most likely to have been Tyrion finding Jaime dead at Cersei's feet and thinking she had done him in, then him attacking and strangling her in a fit of rage.

Props to Dinklage for that brother-to-brother talk scene, though. Full of emotion and really well-done.

Oh, and anybody else subscribing to the theory that Varys was actively attempting to poison Dany? "We'll try again at supper," to his little bird that was watching her and working in the kitchen?

I also hope the signal of the rings in the cup is simply something along the lines of "The jig is up, get somewhere safe" rather than "Put plan B into action, effective immediately."

Ok, these were pretty goddamn funny.

Game of Thrones Men as Sandwiches

I am not letting Joff spoil my love of pickled herring, tho. Dammit.

ETA: Some friends of mine added to the list, and I thought these were bang on.

Gendry - Po' Boy. Meaty. Humble, yet scrappy. A little dirty, cleans up nice. Goes down quick.

Podrick - Monte Cristo. Soft, with some crunch around the edges. Well-balanced sweetness. Will never tell you what is in the secret sauce.

Bronn - Cuban. Travels well. Can be a little salty. Never apologizes for spiciness. Will repeat on you until you take something for it.

Davos - Fried Egg and Onion. Practical, crusty, gets the meal done with no frills. Occasionally soggy. Saves you from colds, starvation, and hangovers, but frequently followed by explosive repayment before the battle.

Tomen: Cucumber Tea sandwich. Light, sweet, so much healthier than the other options on the table, but ultimately lacking substance and gone too soon.

It seems like a sound theory, and I've seen some theories that the "little bird" will try again after this and that might be how Dany dies. Varys from beyond the grave for the win.
