I Am Seriously Considering Supporting Donald J. Trump For President in 2020.

As the title states, I am seriously considering supporting Donald J. Trump for president in 2020.

My conundrum is simple. It is a distinct possibility that the Democratic Party could be so STUPID as to nominate Sanders for the presidency.

Faced with such idiocy, I'd be forced into voting for Trump, or any Republican really, as the lesser evil.
Trump is just Putin's little bitch.

I'd go for a third option.

    Cthulu.

Why can't the DNC get their act together and get somebody halfway competent?!!!!
Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

I is before E except after C, then it's chaos man, mass chaos! Letters coming together into words, but then you go English and they put U's in places that just shouldn't go there... AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

My sanity left town along time ago and didn't leave a forwarding address. It's not missed.

In US Presidential races there are only two choices, the Democratic nominee and the Republican nominee. In a Sanders v. Trump race, Trump is the lesser evil.

Don't get me wrong. Of the other 28 potential Democratic nominees, I'd take any of them over any Republican. Sanders, though, is more in the Russian's pocket than Trump or even Jill Stein.

    This thread reeks of self-flagellation.

Aside from Sanders being an old guy (older than Trump) and possibly win the Democratic nomination (way too early to tell) even though he isn't registered with the party... what are the other factors in your opinion that makes Trump more appealing / less disgusting?

In case you've forgotten Xxx is a Democrat purist shill to such an extent that he hates the idea of a non-Democrat running as a Democrat that he'd deliberately vote Republican just "to make them pay."

Personally I think Xxx should vote Libertarian. 1 - it might just break some money out for third parties for the next election, meaning we'd be less likely to see a third party candidate running under one of the 'main two's heading'. 2 - It's actually a good idea.

And Democrats wonder why candidates like Trump keep getting elected...

The problem Clinton faced was character assassination by the media and the FBI. In part because she was a woman. And the undemocratic electoral college.

Judging from XXX 's post, Sanders is facing the same problem (e.g. made up Russian ties), but this time because he represent a threat to various economic and political elites.

Dems have an uphill battle to face in the age of instant news and fake news. But it seems some aren't ready for it.

I knew he was a purist, hence why I listed it. I wanted to know if such a decision was due to sheer pettiness, or if he actually had additional reasons as well. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Even if there is a candidate that checks all his boxes that is affiliated with a third party, I doubt he will. He is completely fixated on the 2-party system.

Honestly, it will be difficult to have a third competitive political party since the other two control the rules for presidential debates. It might require a change in the voting system, like dropping the Electoral College and First Past the Post, to become a reality. The fear of a spoiler candidate "squandering their votes" in the holy battle to defeat the "evil" (other) party is too ingrained in the psyche of a significant number of American voters. The two parties exploit this completely to maintain their hold in American politics. What I think upsets Xyxox the most is that Bernie exploited the Democratic Party (Xyxox's own party) in an attempt to become president only to register as unaffiliated again once the race was over.

Trump had been doing the same thing to gain the clout that would eventually land him in the Office of the President. He was registered as a Republican in 1987, then as a Independence Party in 1999, then as a Democrat in 2001, then again as a Republican in 2009, became independent in 2011, before rejoining the GOP (again) in 2012. So if Xyxox decides to vote for Trump, it shouldn't be due to Trump demonstrating party loyalty. This is why I asked the question.

Our choice is probably going to be between Sanders and Warren, just you watch.

It seems way too early for an educated guess. How many have formally announced that they are setting up an exploratory committee to start collecting funds?

Hillary was worse than Sanders. Not because she was a woman. But because she was wooden, had the moral fiber of a slug(not that Trump was better here), owned the media to a frightening degree, was in bed with Wallstreet, and represented more establishment bullshit. She's the primary reason that Trump won. Fauxcahontas isn't much better. If the Democrats want to beat Trump, they need to run someone decent.

For a very odd definition of evil.
