I don't see why not. It's not costing you anything.

Just do your research before you agree to anything. It can complicate your life in ways you haven't considered.
Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

I is before E except after C, then it's chaos man, mass chaos! Letters coming together into words, but then you go English and they put U's in places that just shouldn't go there... AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

My sanity left town along time ago and didn't leave a forwarding address. It's not missed.

Good advice. I know an immigration attorney. Never thought I'd consult them on my own behalf but seems smart to talk to them about this issue.

If you do pursue this and decide to learn German, keep in mind that Austrian German is different enough that German/Swiss TV is subtitled for them/from them. A lot of German speakers I know prefer to use English with each other, rather than try to make sense of each other's dialects.

Not to mention taxes. If you become a citizen in another country, you might be obligated to their tax system as well. I'm not sure on that, but check it out as well.

No - only the US taxes it's citizens regardless of where they are currently living. Well, Ethiopia does too. Thats why so many people are trying to get rid of the US part of their dual citizenships (Boris Johnson of the UK for one notable recent example).

I'd think this could potentially have benefits from a business perspective; being an EU citizen could be as handy as the Austrian part itself. I know if I had this option I would likely take it.

I didn't know that. Still. Research it. Tax laws change all the time. So be careful. I personally don't know international law taxes or otherwise from an apple, so if I were in the same situation, I'd research it thoroughly before making any decision.
