Instinct is telling me that the peace talks are more a function of most of the people who remember the Korean War being dead than anything else.

Well, looks like they are releasing some U.S. Prisoners they've held for a long time. This...seems to be a real thing so far.

I do credit Trump with some of this. Not all of it, but few things in life have a single cause. But it does seem like his "I will out crazy you" schtick on some level called the North Korean's bluff and spooked them somewhat.

That is a tactic that backfires with some nations and isn't I think a good general strategy. But for North Korea, I think it did help.

Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

I is before E except after C, then it's chaos man, mass chaos! Letters coming together into words, but then you go English and they put U's in places that just shouldn't go there... AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

My sanity left town along time ago and didn't leave a forwarding address. It's not missed.

The reason I read why NK finally agreed to peace talks was that the last test of that very heavy nuke basically destroyed their test site. It's supposed to take years to build up a new one.

Yeah. Not only do I think his talking like a 4 year old help here as it caused another leader who talks like a 4 year old(Kim) to worry, but more importantly, I think it worried the fuck out of China. China which refused to engage in sanctions against North Korea for decades, despite the U.S. asking them to, suddenly changed it's tune even though North Korea was acting like it always has. I think Trump scared China into thinking he was crazy enough to invade North Korea and that in turn forced them to put pressure on North Korea to make peace.

This is pretty strongly disputed. I've seen credible assessments in both directions. Not sure which may be right -- probably somewhere in the middle: damaged but not destroyed.

That's what I've read as well - it may be that it is fragile enough that they know it can't take another major test.
We've always been at war with Eastasia.

And I've seen it reported that it's no worse off that sites the US continued to use for testing, ie fully operational.

Y'all are so focused on the little picture. The Evangelicals of America want to bring about Armageddon because they believe they are all destined, no matter what they do, to go to Heaven. 50 million of them in America donate billions towards this goal. Part of their narrative is that Israel will have control of the holy land, enter Netanyahu's long-term agenda to destabilise all other areas of the middle-east; he got the US to invade Iraq, for instance. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia funds terrorists against everyone and yet the US is their best friend, supporting them in Yemen with billion-dollar arms deals. And guess who is next on the SA and Israel's agenda? You guessed it: Iran. And all of this follows Bannon's Fourth Turning philosophy.

WW3 is just around the corner and y'all are pushing it there as fast as y'all can with your ignorance and stupidity.

When the American Civil War 2.0 starts, you'll be one of the first to sent to a Nazi concentration camp: as an officer.

So will the American Civil War II set the stage for World War III? What other wars are on the horizon? Are you hoping your predictions are correct (like every other doomsayer) in order to feel validated?

Feel free to use the following words (as usual) to maintain your shtick:

    • fuck
    • you
    • stupid

Hate to break this to you, but I don't want anyone to die. I don't want to kill anyone either. I want people to realise the dangerous road the world has already gone significantly down and how history is repeating itself despite the fact that it's well documented. The parallels throughout all of recorded history are striking and yet humanity keeps doing the same dumb shit, time and time again. And this time in history looks to be no different, and yet people like you won't recognise it and do anything about it because you live in a world devoid of rationality and reason.

So I sit back and shout my dire prophecies as the wind gets stronger and louder, drowning out my warnings like the cursed Cassandra, all the while weeping at the entirely avoidable fate of the world.

Feeling validated isn't about the desire for death, it is about saying in the end, "I was right, but did you listen, no." You seem to be aiming for the "I told you so." mentality.

People like "me" desire a civil discussion where the participants can agree to disagree and still have respect for one another. Respect is a two-way street. Mutual respect is required for society to grow. Although social media has made it easier to communicate, it seems to have disconnected our sense of one another. People act more aggressively to one another as the degree of disconnect grows. Road rage is an example of this. Social media is even more so.

People, like corporations, coagulate to retain (and potentially gain additional) power and influence in order to feel "safe." No one wants monopolies/duopolies, unless they belong to one (and are benefiting from it). This leads to exclusivity (what is cool/good), which then leads to xenophobia (what is not us = evil), which leads to the belief that all aspects of life are zero-sum games ("we" lose if "they" get what they want). Compromise stops a being strength, and is viewed as a weakness that somehow diminishes a person. Such coagulation grows into a clot, transitioning from a protective function, to becoming deadly.

All empires rise and fall over the course of history. Perhaps the United States is in the midst of "falling." Most empires have a sense of self-righteousness, especially near the end as they struggle to convince themselves that they "deserve" to be on top.

How do we break this everlasting cycle? I encourage any respectful discussion, particularly on this subject.

    Thoughts?
