    It's not a 'thing'... but corndogs are the only food I put ketchup on. And I don't like to eat them without ketchup.

    Hashbrowns?
    News I bring;
    Bells the stag, winter snow
    Summer is past
    Wind high and cold
    Low the sun, short its course
    Seas run strong;
    The russet bracken its shape is lost
    Wild goose raises wanton cry
    Cold lays hold on wings of bird
    Time of ice
    This I heard.

    I love potatoes (and grow my own), but hashbrowns & fried breakfast potatoes (bake in microwave, then slice thickly and fry in bacon grease until golden-brown & crispy on the outside) are the only ones who get the ketchup treatment.

    Pretty much everything else* gets ranch. Because I'm a Pacific Northwesterner.

    Says the trash-eater of things like corndogs, hotdogs and baloney.

    Sometimes, the potatoes...they cry out for their brethren species the tomato. Not only are they in the same family, but they both end in "-ato", and share the same vowel sounds, see?

    What do you eat on your taters then, Blandy McBlandsauce?

    Besides, dwelling in the mythical land of Idaho, I am obviously an authority on all things potato. Hell, the damn things are on our standard license plates.

    Hey now. Baloney is the Ultimate Omnivore Food, it's literally all meats. And some vegges, and probably minerals.

    Salt, if fried. If it's baked it get's butter and cheese. Brown gravy* if it's mashed.

    * White gravy is heresy.

    Everyone knows potatoes are really from south america. There is no Idaho, it's a myth.

    My local diner makes home fries that are seasoned so perfectly, they don't need anything on them.

    As for french fries, I like mine either plain or with Ranch too. Same goes for my onion rings.

    Even with well-seasoned fries, I like at least a bit of ranch; I think it may be a contrast thing with the cool/creamy vs. the crisp/salty/savory. And usually only do the malt vinegar thing if I'm eating fish with my chips.

    As far as condiments go with potatoes I prefer:
    butter on baked potatoes.
    nothing with hashbrowns, as long as they're well seasoned.
    French-fries, it depends on what's on hand. I'm not too picky as long as it isn't mustard.
    Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

    I is before E except after C, then it's chaos man, mass chaos! Letters coming together into words, but then you go English and they put U's in places that just shouldn't go there... AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

    My sanity left town along time ago and didn't leave a forwarding address. It's not missed.
