Random This Shit Is KEWL Thread

SCOTTeVEST clothes are fucking cool! I've always had a big ole hardon for well organized pockets/pouches in my gear.

Too bad they're so fucking expensive. Sigh.

I used to 'solve' this need by using multiple smaller pouches and bags within larger unorganizable bags/duffels and by using multiple tiny/small wallets and just having a keys pouch, coin pouch, etc.

"Used to". I still do to some extent, but having a nice set of pockets on my backpack (one well organized one and several small ones dotted about) has obviated most of my "several small bags in a larger bag" thing.

In keeping with the pouches/pockets thing, I met this artist at last fall's Tonasket Barter Faire, and fell in love with the "slinger belt" style and just had to have one (mine looks pretty close to this one). He's a really awesome artist and spectacularly cool guy; I wanted one of the straps lengthened so I could put one of my damascus belt knives on it, and the other altered slightly, and he had did the alterations/specifications without complaint, and didn't charge me. Really cool fellow, and his handwork is worth the price, I've heard from other folks that if I ever have a problem or need a repair to simply bring it back to him. The larger pouch also has a hidden separate zipper-pouch on the back.

Eh, too artsy-fartsy for my taste.

    1) I'm not a Floridian, and 2) Floridians freeze to death at room temperature.

I'd like to get the cargo pants the camp shirt. They look handy and comfortable.

    indeed!
I just bought 6 pairs of Dickies for the price of one of their slacks. Fucking hell... but I will note the Dickies have fuck-all for pocket space.

Well, I guess if you like mass-produced, made-in-China stuff where each one looks exactly the same as everybody else's, then that's what floats your boat. And Salvador's (the guy who owns Gato Montes) handmade stuff isn't "artsy-fartsy", it's absolutely functional, well-made, and primitive/rustic with each piece being unique. I know for myself, I'd much rather support a local (ish) artisan making quality stuff than add to China's economy, given the choice.

Dude. I hate to break it to you, but after at least a couple decades there, you're kinda a Floridian-via-naturalization.

No... I just prefer a more utilitarian look. I'm a brutalist/minimalist aesthetic kinda guy.

False. I am a noble Northern transplant withering in this oppressively humid tropical climate. It shall be the death of me and the end of my line.

Leather's much more utilitarian than polyester, y'know.
