As for Vader's mask, they used a corrected remodel.
    Interesting.

None of those are jokes. He's displayed wit, but the jarring point was he made a pun, something obviously meant to be funny and not meerly clever. Also his helmet looked weird, and his fight was a bit prequel.
Exactly. Vader should be getting the badass lines, clever, but serious and menacing. Not some lame pun.

And yeah that fight was very prequel.

If you watched the movies in chronological order, you'd wonder why Vader slowed down so much much between Rogue One and A New Hope, when before you could chalk it up to being a quad amputee with 4 bionic limbs.
Maybe he pulled a Force muscle and had to take it easy the next three movies.
Hop on in, this rabbit hole is deep.

    Everyone. Fucking. Died.

This is the Star Wars we've deserved for many years. No happy lil furry fuck nuggets for comedy, no droids slapstick bullshit, no people who are 'bad but really with hearts of gold'. No, all these people are one step away from CN on the sliding alignment scale from CG. They do the shit that needs to get done for the galaxy and they fucking DIE.

1 - Vader should not make puns or jokes. That was not to character.
    Really Captain Needa?

Hahha. Thought you were better at Star Wars?

I find your lack of faith disturbing.
    Apology accepted, Captain Needa.

    Disagree. They're basically jokes.

Rogue One was awesome. My second favorite Star Wars.

Loved the scene where Vader lays waste to the Rebels. Their fear was palpable.

There were a ton of nods to the fans and the battle scenes had more weight to them than a lot of Star Wars battles.

There were quite a few scenes from the trailers not used in the film.

The one with Jyn running with the data module, for instance, was obviously done as a red herring to make people think she'd survive.

It's basically a war movie that takes place in Star Wars-land.

I can't decide if I like that or not.

    = = =

<HopelessRomantic> Would it have killed Jyn and Cassian to kiss at the end? You're about to get vaporized by the blast wave from the equivalent of an atomic bomb. Smooch each other! None of this lame hugging bullshit! </HopelessRomantic>
    Still excited about 4th Edition!

I would have been ok with the line if he didn't also flash his hand afterwards. It was the combination of the two that made it feel hokey.

I liked it. Better than Awakens, because Awakens felt too much like a rehash to me. And while the "archive" was pretty ridicilous, I can swallow it a lot better than a star sucking superweapon.

I also liked that basically everyone dies. This was indeed a War movie set in the Star Wars universe.

Saw it last night. Loved it. Better than Episode VII for me which makes it my 3rd favorite SW movie.

I had to look up the Vader "pun" because I didn't remember it. After looking it up I remembered and it didn't bother me. A little bit cheesy, but not too bad.

I thought the Leia CGI was damn near perfect; she was a chubby cheeked youngster in A New Hope.

Tarkin was definitely Uncanny Valley for me. Bugged the shit out of me every time he was on screen.

I loved seeing Vader going full-on "kill all these motherfuckers" as he was marching like a force of nature to "get the stolen data tapes." Even knowing that someone was going to get away with them I still had a bit of wariness about what was going to happen.

The lack of title crawl at the beginning irked me, but I understand not doing it to clearly set Rogue One off from the rest of the movies.

I didn't realized John Williams didn't do the music (I avoided everything about this movie so I wouldn't be spoiled). Less than 10 minutes in I thought, "Hm, is Williams losing his touch?" Would have very much preferred more trumpets and fanfare.

Repeat: loved it. Might go see it in the theater a second time.

Also you area all disintegrated.

An actress played Leia, with a CG overlay. She looks pretty close to young Leia on her own. It's Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila.

It's better than the prequels, but I liked Force Awakens more. I chared more about the characters, including the new ones. Rey and Finn in particular had better stories, and I liked Kylo Ren a lot too. This one had a planet of the apes Tarkin, an off Darth Vader, and a bunch of more or less throw away characters I didn't really get enough of to care about when they died. I'd rate the movie as Fresh but not great. I need to see it again with better sound mixing and without the horrible experience of 3 hours in stop and go traffic on ice to ruin it, though I expect I'll still rate it as acceptable.
