Yes, meant in general if you want something done, if you have money or power, things are generally done for you quicker.

Update: The SSA finally got back to me early this month. I passed my review. You, know, the one that was supposed to happen like six months ago. Good job keeping on top of things, SSA.

    Thank congress for that.
Madness does not always howl. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "Hey, is there room in your head for one more?"

I is before E except after C, then it's chaos man, mass chaos! Letters coming together into words, but then you go English and they put U's in places that just shouldn't go there... AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

My sanity left town along time ago and didn't leave a forwarding address. It's not missed.

    Dammit. More post office shenanigans.

In the never-ending comedy of errors that is my experience with the USPS, they totally didn't do an acceptance scan on the package I left with a clerk at the counter today (despite having an actual policy that they are supposed to scan every package that it tendered to them, even if it is pre-paid). And, of course, PayPal is withholding my monies until said package is delivered. Which entirely depends on USPS tracking.

So, the TLDR version is that if they (the USPS) don't scan it when it goes out (IF it goes out, because FUCK these clowns have screwed me in every possible way before), I might be out a computer and money.

Which would be fucking great, but not entirely surprising. They almost fucked me exactly this way in June, when their carrier didn't scan a package as delivered (despite the fact that it was). I had to call the customer service line and spend about 45 minutes convincing an agent to mark the package as delivered so PayPal would release my money.

    Grr.

Footnote: I worked for the USPS for about a year and a half, so my ongoing struggle with them as a consumer (like, seriously, they have screwed me so many times in ways that are absolutely astounding) particularly difficult to swallow.

Unlikely. I worked for them as internal support behind a wall of near total anonymity at a secure location. I'm pretty sure none of the rank and file guys at my local post office know who I am.

Do you have any options to go with FedEx or UPS?

I was an RCA for about a month, and virtually all the USPS employees I interacted with were very overworked and not really treated all that well. It's a tough job for the most part, which is why they have to keep the pay so high, and even then, they have trouble retaining people.

Dark the stars and dark the moon
Hush the night and the morning loon
Tell the horses and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

Dark the oceans, dark the sky
Hush the whales and the ocean tide
Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum
Gone their master, gone their son.

I didn't this time but, yes, I've been using FedEx for most of my other mailings for a year now.

Honestly? Many of them are probably not treated well because they aren't qualified to perform the jobs they have been hired for and routinely fuck up. I mean that very literally. The postal hiring process is very, very, flawed.

The position I worked in was providing first enterprise printer support and, later, network support for the USPS. The incompetence of the on the ground techs - who were ostensibly more knowledgeable than our department - was fucking stunning. Many of these people had absolutely no business being anywhere near expensive electronics, let alone being allowed to "fix" them.

The workflow was ostensibly supposed to go from us to them. We were supposed to dispatch them for on the ground service after we had identified and isolated a problem. But I swear to god, 70% of the time they were calling us because they honestly had no clue how to service the printers or networks, despite supposedly being qualified and trained to do so.

They wanted us to walk them through repair processes step by step. Which we did because, hey, money (we were paid for every support ticket that they opened) but goddamn. So many of those people should have been fired.

I'll take reading comprehension for 500 Alex. He said USPS... Not UPS. USPS is United States Postal Service.

Also, you'll notice in the post RIGHT ABOVE YOUR'S he said he didn't have the option to use UPS or FedEX this time.

As always, the point goes right over a CMer's head. Don't use the service if you have problems with it. Derp.

Just ignore Yablo. It takes any reply to it as a win.

Hell, I'm sure it'll even take my referencing it to recommend ignoring it as a win.
