BBC News/Magazine:Producer and director Barry Letts was indelibly associated with three of the most fondly remembered incarnations of Doctor Who. Letts began his career as an actor, appearing in a number of TV dramas in the 50s and 60s, before switching to work as a director. He oversaw his first Doctor Who episode in 1967, The Enemy of the World, starring Patrick Troughton as the eponymous Time Lord. When Jon Pertwee assumed the role as the third Doctor, Letts was the programme's producer, with Doctor Who and the Silurians his first outing in his new role.

Emmerich told Entertainment Weekly that he is pitching a television version of his story to networks, saying there is "plenty to do in a TV show." | Best Buy Movie Downloads: Is the Death of the DVD Nigh? |
Yahoo!Tech/PCWORLD:The announcement that Best Buy is teaming with CinemaNow on movie downloads is yet another sign that DVDs are plummeting fast into a steep downward trajectory.
As my PC World colleague Daniel Ionescu pointed out today, Best Buy, the leading retail seller of DVD movies, is now seeing those sales fade away as more people move to renting movies through digital distribution.
Let’s face facts here. DVDs can warp or get scratched, immediately making them
unplayable. It’s easy to lose a DVD — and it might be hard to get one back after you’ve loaned it to a friend.

| Is the Megapixel Race Over in Digital Cameras? |
Yahoo!Tech/PC Magazine:Photo enthusiasts seemed out in force at this year's PDN PhotoPlus Show in New York, which was filled with crowds of people, mostly looking at relatively high-end cameras and the accessories that go with them.
Canon, Nikon, and Sony had three of the largest booths at the show, and all were crowded, and there were also booths from Olympus and specialty camera makers Sigma and Leica. (But I was sorry not to see Casio, Fujifilm, Panasonic or Samsung.) To me, the biggest overall trend is to see companies not so much focused on more and more megapixels, but rather on improving picture quality through bigger and better sensors and new lenses, as well as adding video features.
